You are correct, volvo used to build durable, reliable, safe and boring cars.

Now their vehicles are more powerful, sleek design and fun to drive, definitely not boring, so something have to give and that has to be reliability.
Also their safety has dropped a couple of notches, with the high failure rate of the ABS and ETS modules.

I would go for the Acura TL.
