I adjust my tire pressures to get even tire wear. To me , that way my tires are neither over or underinflated.
I do prefer the highest pressure that gives even wear.
Consider this - the higher the tire pressure, the less area of the tire touches the road.
If your tires were sufficiently flexible - If you ran 3500 psi, only one square inch would touch the road, - 100 psi, 35 square inches, - 50 psi, 70 square inches, and - 1 psi, 3500 square inches.
