Hey there, I have a '99 S70 Automatic as well (non turbo), and I notice that if I'm really pushing it or even just driving it a little more aggressive than usual, the shifts between 1-2 and 3-4th are felt. The only up/down shifts that I don't feel are between 2-3rd. I too thought there was something wrong, but my Volvo Mechanic said that it's normal for these transmissions and my concern wasn't the first he's heard, though he did assure me that there isn't a problem. After driving a rental Taurus for a day, going back to my S70 did seem a little "harsh." - Not to worry, just think the shifts are "crisp." At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
