AC light flickers 850 1997

1) OBD2 does have AC trouble codes. So have it read on Volvo shop.

2) Under-hood noise can be many thing, but you can be right about the belt tensioner. There is a round spring housing at the belt tensioner swingarm. on the upperside of the housing, there is a groove with a nipple on it. The nipple should be steady when engine running, if not then you need to replace the belt tensioner.
AC compressor can be noisy too.
