Mine used to run a little below 3. I changed the thermostat and it now stays at the exact 3 o'clock position. You should service the cooling system. Or it may just be an anomaly with your car. The temp gauge also has a pretty forgiving "dead center", so the gauge will stay in the 3 o'clock range even if the temperature fluctuates, so it doesn't alarm the driver. Good luck!
