Is your car still under warranty? I bet there is a couple of months left on the warranty.

'99 and '00 FWD volvos are prone to ETS (electronic throttle system) failures. This is VERY COMMON and the deakers KNOW IT. They usually recommend the cleaning method which would buy a few months, by then the warranty is out and they'll come to you with the right DX of ETS module failure with a tune of $1000 to replace.

Be careful, do a search on this board about ETS failures and you'll see.
Let the dealer know that you know about this common failure and to fix it now under warranty.
