Engine temperature lamp 400 1992

Hi,

The "engine temperature" lamp of my 440 (1992, 80Kmiles)seems to be always on - even just after I started the engine. The coolant temperature gauge reading on the dashboard is always within the safe range and never goes near the red "H" zone. Also when I check the coolant level, there is enough coolant.

What can be causing the lamp to go on?
