There seem to be too many AC ?s 850

I have read that r134a does not work as well as earlier refrigerants.

I also had a good conversation with a technician at a major player in truck AC in this area, trying to solve my AC-less '90 744 TI problem.

He told me that the molecules in r134a are so small that converting your brick to it is a real gamble. He told me that a brand-new, factory-manufactured hose with fittings on it that is fine with the old stuff will leak the new stuff.

It is possible to buy a roof-mounted, 12v ac system for $3000. I am tempted. (This could be moved from brick to brick by dropping it into the sunroof hole, and removed when the weather is cool!)

If you want to get an inverter, you can get a Coleman roof AC for around $400. (I have thought about replacing the AC compressor with a second alternator to serve the inverter.)

I really would not mind driving a brick with a bump on the roof if the windows were frosted!
