"DISC" = "disconnected", it usually indicates a poor contact because the switch contacts are oxidized. I found that running the switch ariound a few times will at least temporarily fix the problem.

If it occurs often enough to be annoying, replace the switch. It's cheap enough (< $100) and since I did that, I haven't had the problem.
