Hmmm. I am not expert, but you'd have to think that OBD2 compliant is just that.

OBD2 is a standard- if it meets that standard , the scanner ought to work on any vehicle.

I've got a 1995 Volvo 850 and have been trying to determine whether Volvo truly met the standard prior to 1996.

Seem it may - as under the hood the emmission sticker clearly reads " OBD2 Certified".
