"Should it ever have to be done?" By all rights, no! It shouldn't ever have to be done. However, the electronic throttle mechanism has been the subject of a host of missives to the board. Unfortunately all too often it has been replaced on many of the board's cars, mine included. Hopefully for you, your vehicle is still under warranty. That does take some of the sting out of it.
