'Very' poor gas mileage V70-XC70 1998

I usually fill up when the gauge goes down to 10 liters left. Am beginning to suspect quality of gas available here. Unfortunately, there is no way I can find out. Am going to sell one of the cars soon but am in a dilemma as to which one. You see, the 850 for me is a lot more fun to drive. The response is quicker and the engine is smoother. I know the V70 is supposed to have a couple more horsepower but that's not how it feels like.

If called for, the 850 will brake traction when I floor the gas from about 40-50 kilometers an hour (KPH). It also gets more miles to the gallon on long drives. Anyway, that's my problem, right?
