Assuming this only happened at the location you said it did, then yes, I would suspect RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) or EMI (Electromechanical Interference). Case in point, while on vacation this past summer I parked outside the front doors of a "community television station" (transmitter on site). Went to lock the doors and the fob didn't work. When I returned and tried again, the fob still didn't work. Working in the broadcast industry I just smiled as I pretty much new what was up. After leaving the location the problem never returned. On a side note, have you heard of folks with digital cameras that were near, high powered tension lines? I was at a Volvo meet two years ago and the cars were parked in an open field with high powered lines running over head. All the guys were out with there digital cameras and having problems. The cameras weren't working! Turned out, a few of the folks actually had the EPROMS in there cameras fried!......thanks to the EMI!
