Oil change is easy and straightforward, like on any other car. Normally, you should be able to unscrew the filter by hand, but there are tools available. Buy a new filter and try those tools first in the store.
I would not switch to synthetic at this mileage. Only if you drive in severe conditions (very cold, very hot, towing, etc.)
