Yes, it can be done without removing 850

Is the air pump still working? If not working, then there is no need to drill.

Failure of the SAS valve at open mode, allows condensation from combustion to run down to the air pump because of its lower location. AS water accumulates the pump begins to fail until it stops working because of rust.

If the pump still working, then there is hope for the pump, but fix SAS valve ASAP.

Follow the hose from sas valve to the air pump. Drill a 1/8" hole at the lowest part of the nipple(facing the ground) that accepts the hose.
