Oil pan o-rings (have to do with oil pickup) could be causing the ticking. If you don't feel like pulling the pan to change the o-rings, try adding a quart of marvel mystery oil next time you change the oil. Keep dino in it and add two quarts of oil, one quart of mm oil, and then the remainding three quarts of oil. Change after 3k miles, and do this again. Use a quart of MM Oil with every change. It is a very good top end and hydraulic lifter conditioner.
