850 no start - flooding - strange - maybe FPR or something else?

I have my 94 850 with 105K in the shop. Good independent shop and I have known the guys for years! My problem started with a an almost stall out about two days ago - car almost quit, but didn't. After being parked all night, it would not start in the morning. Had it towed and my fav garage started to look.

They found it was washing the cyc with fuel and hence had no compression, they checked the timing belt to make sure it had not jumped (was just replaced by them 3K ago) and thank god it had not. They finally got the car running by injecting oil into each cyc!

Now it's running, but they can't isolate what caused the rich running and no start. I am thinking fuel pressure regulator - thought about replacing the FI relays as preventative maint (did that on my last 95 850).

Any ideas I can pass along to the garage?? Boy am I glad the timing belt was not the issue!! I had just changed the oil and put a magenefine filter on the trans return line the day before all this happened, but I can't imagine how that could have any correlation - pretty easy to change oil!
