OK, I'll try to answer your question. I don't know for sure when, or if, the factory fill for both 6 cyl S80s (read GM transmission) is synthetic. However, the synthetics available in the US, which meet volvo spec (per your manual) are without any doubt better than, and compatible with, dino fluids. Therefore, I choose to spend the few bucks difference on synthetic which has better specs than any dino fluid.
So stop worrying and use either Amsoil ATF or Mobil-1 ATF!
