850 Intermittent Stalling - Take 2 850 1995

Thanks, I'll have my son check for a warm (hot) cable. He's at school (500 miles away). This is the first time I've had to troubleshoot remotely. He doesn't have a volt meter but he can definitely tell if something is hot.

If he can find a volt meter (somebody at school must have one) where am I looking for a drop, and how much drop is normal/bad?

He mentioned today that the car usually dies when turning which suggests a bad cable/bad connection kind of thing (something moving). Also said the horn honked when he just touched the battery cable, which while hard to explain exactly suggests there is something up either with that cable or maybe a ground.

I'm going back to study the wiring diagrams until he can do the hot-cable test.

This reminds me of a problem with the main system relay on my 240. The relay buzzed when I keyed to start; for a while the car would start anyway but eventually it would not. Turned out to be a bad ground. That was not too hard to guess but finding it was! The relay (which is about where the front passenger puts his feet) is grounded on the intake manifold. That took quite a while to find.

Thanks again,

Terry
