Windshield rubber top part missing 850 1995

I was told by an auto glass place that my missing piece (S70) is really only ornamental. The windshield won't fly away. Nor will it let water in.

However I did notice in the winter that the tiny gap between the glass and the frame can collect water, It will freeze and expand a little making these god-awful sounds that makes me think the windshield's ready to explode.

Answer... I've been told on my car that I'm okay until I fix it.
