The problem I was having with my door lock was that the lock would not remotely lock and none of the other locks would lock. If I locked the door with the key then the other doors would lock automatically. Then I could unlock all of the other doors with the remote but not the drivers door. I could only unlock it with the key.

After taking the inside door panel off and comparing the wires running from the lock mechanism to the connection and comparing the wiring to my original lock I noticed the wiring was different. ie. more wires on the new installed lock and one of the wires to the lock motor was in a different spot on the connector.

I moved this wire to the right spot on the connector and this allowed me to remotely lock the door along with the other doors , but it still wouldnt open except with the key. I gave up at this point and replaced the old original lock mechanism. All now works.

To replace the lock mechanism you first have to remove the window regulator. This is a bit of a trick since you have to unsnap the two ball joints from the window track to do this. You have to move the window in the right position to gain access to the ball joints and then support the window before you unsnap the ball joints. You then have to lower the regulator to its lowest position to take it out. Only then can you remove the door lock assembly.
