Well, the news is not good. The mechanic indicates the transmission needs to be replaced - quoted ~$3k to install a refurbished transmission. Sadly, the car is only worth $4 - $5k - I'm considering donating to charity and moving on. I can't keep putting $$ into this depreciating asset.

I'm getting a 2nd estimate from Aamco as a last ditch effort.
