Still looking for sound advice for my Manual Climate Control (MCC) 98 S70

Thanks for the input Herb. I have never heard about a recall on those. The warranty is long gone on this beauty and maybe that,s why I didn't get the word about this problem!! I'm in Germany at the moment and with the Euro to Dollar rate, I don't want to go near a local Volvo repair shop unless I asolutely need too in order to fix the problem. How much are the new control units if purchased online and how difficult would it be for me to install a new one by myself?? Same goes for the fan?? Thanks for your help and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you!!!!
