crackling sound at start up 850 1996

If the sound is coming from under the battery area, then your air pump is full of water because of a failed SAS valve.

Drill a 1/8" hole at the lowest bottom section of the pump to allow the water to drain. Fix the SAS soon or the pump will fail and cost you $$$.
