ETS light V70-XC70 2002

My wife was driving our 2000 V70 XC the other night and the ETS light came on and the car basically quit running. she called me and I said turn off the car and wait a minute and restart. This happened again later in the night with the same effect. I later drove the car for a while and could not duplicte. Any suggestions, Anyone..
