Well, I've been out of the Volvo community for about 2 years. I used to have a '93 850 5 spd. I recently purchased a '98 V70 AWD. Just the other day, it was appx 12-14 deg F. I ran the car for 3-4 miles, then shut it off. Temp gauge never left 'c'. 5 minutes later, I tried to start the car again... it didn't even crank over. No sounds what so ever. Nothing happened, except the standard lights being displayed on the dash. I played with the steering wheel, the gear shifter (automatic) and turned the key many times before I gave up. I never got any indications or symptoms this was ever going to happen. No odd behavior at all.
I walked home and left the car alone over night. The next day... I walked back and decide to fool around with the car again before calling a flatbed. What do you know?! The car started without a hitch or hesitation on the first try! It started just like its supposed to. The temp the following day was 29 deg F.
What gives? Could this be a faulty ignition switch? I really have no idea.
I'm assuming that this may happen again.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
