Cruise Control strange behaviour S40-V40 2001

I have the exact same issue. I have attempted to get the dealer to trouble shoot the problem on several occasions but they say they cannot repeat the problem. There does not seem to be any particular set of circumstances which initate the shutdown although I think it happens more often when it is cold outside.
No solution but some commiseration!
