Hello everyone,
Just a quick survey. Government data says 29 mpg for highway driving:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/14374.shtml
The basic question of comparison of fuel mileage is "Is there anything wrong with my car that needs a tuneup or checkup?" AND the BEST way to see that is through HIGHWAY driving (because city driving has too many variables that are very difficult to compare among ourselves)
I got 24-25 mpg as follows:
- Straight drive from Chicago to Omaha, Nebraska 450 miles
- Car good shape (recently new cap/rotor/sp plugs)
- Tires at 35 psi
- Driver (myself only, no cargo)
- Cruising at constant speed of 60-65 mph.
- Auto Transmission
- Winter driving on clear road (no snow)...I think at highway speed, the fuel mileage is the same for winter or summer.
- I am not a heavy footer.
WHAT DOES EVERYONE GET FOR FUEL MILEAGE? THIS IS JUST A SURVEY.
