Like many of the previous posters I have driven the S40 or V40 as a loaner. It was a fun car to drive around but I'd never own one. Pound for pound it must be the fastest Volvo sold. It's also the "pipiest" as in 2 cycle motorcycles. It doesn't do anything until the turbo kicks in and all of a sudden you're doing 70-75 mph. It feels as though it won't do anything until you stomp on it. It could become habit forming. For that reason alone, seriously, I wouldn't buy it. The turbo lag and sudden rush of speed would only result in more tickets or culverts, either of which would be problematic. Go with the S70 or V70. Easily they're the better choice.
