Just a Volvo thing, the latches are hidden beneath the fabric/leather. Get into the back seat and about 4 or 5in down from the headrest post you will feel a push button under the leather. Push one side while pulling up on the headrest, then do the other post. It's not easy and you will wish you had four arms. A simple lever at the top of the seat where the posts go in would have enough engineering!
