Hello,

The transaxle that you have in your car (the AW55, 5-speed automatic) DOES require the Volvo fluid. The AW50 (4-speed automatic) requires Dexron, but it will not work in your transmission. The AW55 and AW50 are totally separate transaxles. For the extra few dollars (cheap security), I would recommend using the proper fluid...

P.S. - If the Volvo fluid was actually just Dexron in a different bottle (as Steve had said), then why wouldn't they recommend it for the AW50 as well??
