jpyrb--A Norwegian brown rat crawled up inside the hood of my 97 850 GLT wagon and really did a number on it. He ate through all the rubber hoses connected to the windshield/headlight washer system. And not only ate through, but a goodly amount of the hose itself. I couldn't believe it when I raised the hood and saw washer fluid all over the front of the engine from pulling the stalk to get it to work. Then he went over and ate almost all the rubber insulation around the throttle valve cable, and when it was done there he ate into some critical component of the cruise control, a wire or vacuum line, disabling it. I've had the battery and tray out three times and checked absolutely everything, but the cruise won't work. I found the rat dead near the garage, either from all the rubber clogging his digestive tract or from methanol poisoning from the washer fluid. Needless to say, I keep a couple of rodent traps set in my garage just in case. Dick
