werethe oil lines replaced with the turbo..they SHOULD be...otherwise coke in the lines can trash the new turbo....
i suspect its oil, cooling might decrease the milage but not THAT much (afterall the original volvo tubos wernt water cooler and you could easily gte 80 k out of one (more if you exsrcised proper cool down procedure)
the alternate explanation is YOUR RIGHT FOOT!
you should ALWAYS allow a turbo car to warm up slowlwey for the first 4-5 miles (that means stay out of boost) and cool down slowly (aka let it iddle for a couple of minutes before you switch it off. one sure fire way to kill a turbo is to blip the throtle then turn the key off...the turbo now at potentiall 30-100 THOUSAND rpm is deprived of oil and grinds to a halt...
i would be interested to hear HOW it failed as that would give more info to diagnose the trouble...
is you mechanic USED to working on T cars, they are specialised and need some knowledge...
