GEARBOX PROBLEM 850

Wow, that is a problem. I don't understand how water would last in a tranny for a year. The fluid is always above 100C and would have steamed the water out a long time ago. If there is still water (antifreeze), then the radiator will need to be replaced also, because that is the only place water can come from.
I would still try doing a complete flush after dropping the tranny pan and cleaning it throughly before investing in a new/rebuilt unit.
