Maybe some of you will recall that when I last left off a few weeks ago, I was having a buzzing/ticking/groaning sound coming from the ABS system on my '98 S70 GLT. The sound seems to be coming from the left front side of my vehicle...either from the wheel or from the engine compartment.

When I first asked the forum about it, there was a common concensus that an ABS pulse ring may be damaged or broken. I had a bad CV joint on the driver's front axle, and I needed to replace it anyways...and that's where the sound was coming from, so that's the logical place where I started. I replaced the axle fairly easily on Saturday, and just for good measure, I took the left front ABS sensor out while I was in there and cleaned it well (both the sensor and the sensor ring were very dirty, but both were in tact).

I drove the car about a mile after I'd made the repairs on Saturday and, miracle of miracles, the buzz was cured and gone! On Monday afternoon, however, after a buzz-free morning drive, during my 2 mile drive back to work from lunch, it "buzzed" twice for about 2 seconds each time. (The car was warm at that point...could that have something to do with it?) Nothing like the regular buzzing before...but it was coming from the same source.

Well, it kept doing that every so often for a few days, and then yesterday the thing started buzzing more than ever, almost constantly. At first, it was just when I was driving up or down a slight incline or driving over bumpy road. Now, it's progressed to just buzzing all the time. I feel the buzz in the form of resistance on the brake pedal. During my commute, I don't drive much faster than 40 mph for 2 miles, and it buzzes almost nonstop the entire way. And oh yeah...the ABS/TRACS lights don't come on at all, no matter how much it buzzes.

So the pulse ring issue seems to be out...unless, of course, it's from the passenger side...which doesn't seem likely. Victor Rocha has already made his repairs to my ABS Module, so the problem doesn't seem to be there. Is a sensor shot? What else could be bad? Is the devil incarnate inside my S70? HELP!!!
