Not sure what you mean by the 'door stop spring'. The common problem on 850 door stops is the broken spot welds. Before you do anything, check out this site:

I had the problem, and using the above fix cost me about 30 minutes in time and $0.00 in parts (already had the appropriate nuts & bolts) Did it over a year ago and things still work fine...
