I have used regular paint thiner (Not lacquer thinner).
Get it wet, let it work for about 10 min and then wipe off.
On very heavy spots I use a plastic spatula to get the thick stuff out and then use the thinner.
After it is removed I buff the area with a restorer compound (not rubbing compount) and seal with wax.
