Hi, you may be able to save my car from scrapping next week.
Problem: about 6 months ago, the engine of my 850 GLT from 1992 (the very first 1992 model was, I think, only sold in Europe) started to simply shut down while driving. The car is extremely well maintained, so I was rather puzzled. It has happened all toghether 8 times. It first happened in the city, and I thought it might simply be due to my driving in too high a gear (to save petrol). But it happened last week to my wife, doing 100 kmh on the highway. So it's getting dangerous. Volvo France - following a quick look at the car - said it might just have been dirty petrol. Which is rubbish.
I now take it to Volvo in Germany, where a Volvo dealer has said that he might be able to read a saved error-message in the "black box". If he's not, then he can't do much more to identify the problem. And I'm gonna look for a new car.
Any tips are very welcome ...
thanks,
Peter
