V40 longevity S40-V40

I can only tell you how my '00 S40 is at 105k. On the plus side I had my front rotors changed at 93k, my rear rotors will be changed at 107k...approx. Pads usually every 30-35k. I have my original exhaust, hoses, rear wheel bearings...The fronts were done a while ago.Auto trans is fine. No engine repaires. Just schedualed maintenance and other wear items..tires, belts, wipers bulbs...The biggest negative the first 50k were the 4-5 check engine light problem and as I discoved later, 90% of all these CE problems are not problems with your car, Its just that darn emissions settings are so "Tight" that if you sneeze with your hood open...well, that will set it off!!! Two dissapointment, my paint has been peeling off in small places on my front fenders....but no rust after 5 Vermont winters. The biggest eyesore is my drivers seat, it looks like it came out of '80 something 240! The S40 seats are leather...or a poor grade leather. The leather seats used in the later 850/940/V70 series look quite good at 100k. Can the engine go 200k? Mine runs great...I would say no problem! Can the body? Yes, just keep it clean and waxed!I see no problem getting 200k+. My reccomondation is after 6-8k switch to a full synthetic oil and change oil and filter every 6-7k! Good luck, Bill
