Have them check the Motor mounts! V70-XC70 1998

I had the same problem with my 98XC. It turned out to be motor mounts. Replaced both upper and lower. I could reproduce it by doing left-hand circles in an empty parking lot.

But... it also rumbled and growled while idling at a stop. So.... maybe that's not it. I hope it is for your sake.

But also, if it is the motor mounts, your indy Volvo mechanic isn't worth his salt, since this is a VERY common failure.
