Have you ever gone to a McDonalds and gotten a really great Big Mac and then go to a different one and gotten a rotten one?
No personal experience but I've heard Earl Scheib is about the same. Being a chain "fast food" paint shop all depends on the actual person doing the job. Although I think basically you get what you pay for and I have heard stories of peeling paint. I have also heard they do better when there is no rust or body damage.
That said it is very hard for a body shop to match colors on any car that has been out in the sun for any part of its life. Even if they use the same paint code from the manufacturer. I would think especially the clear coat covered teal (I have same color!)
For me I would probably go with the body shop. Probably better paint job and won't be bothered by mis-matched paint in all the spots Earl misses (around trim, doors, truck hood, etc). Trade in / sale value in two years with 200K+ won't be affected much either way by paint, unless cheap Earl paint makes car look like it got totaled.
