Changing the Dist. cap 850 1995

Mr. Detail--it's an easy job if you remove the air box. If you try to get at the two screws holding the distributor cap in place without taking out the airbox, it's a witch of a job. Look down at the airbox, and you will see two pointed clips sticking up through a mount, one on each side that hold the airbox in place. Take a needle-nosed pliers and squeeze the slotted tips together so the shoulder of the clip will release and you can pull the box loose. Some people talk about using a socket to force down on the slotted clip to force it together so it would release, but I never found that to work too well. The only problem I had was trying to remember which ignition wires went where as you disconnected from the old cap and plugged into the new cap. The wires are short and you don't have that much space to place the new cap beside the old and transfer the wires one at a time. When you have the air box removed, do a thorough check of vacuum lines and leads, much of which you can't get at with the air box in place. Dick
