They could be related.
What is the ABS light doing?
Make sure the ABS light is functional.
When you turn the key to start the car, all the lights should be ON and after the engine starts the ABS light should turn OFF.
If you have a problem with the ABS unit, that will trigger the TRACS light, if you drive the car long enough with a failing ABS unit, the CEL light will turn ON.
Go to an autoparts store (Autozone) and ask them to read the codes from the OBDII to find out what turned ON the CEL. Once you tell us what code you have then we can give you more information.
