Dick, thanks for your help. I checked this am and sure enough, the locking tabs on each side were not all the way out and so the radio was still locked and would not allow me to reinstall it. In addition, one of the side pins was stuck so that once the tabs were pushed out, one of the pins was still in the locked position but as you said, I could see it from the side.
