Front Strut Brace 850 1996

joffroa--Just bought one from Volvo Houston (1-800-468-0041) for $175 plus shipping. I buy all my Volvo parts from them because they are the cheapest in the nation. Period. Order some other parts from them to make shipping worthwhile, like a gallon of Volvo coolant, brake fluid, etc. Parts manager's name is Miguel.

Some time ago I checked on all the strut braces as to which was the best for the 850's. There was a long review on it in the Volvo Club of America's magazine, tried to find
my copy a year or so later and couldn't. Ask on the Brickboard. Somebody might remember which issue. OMP, the one shown on Volvospeed.com under Bay 13 (Modifications), got the highest marks. IPD's the lowest or anyway, near the bottom, and also expensive as I seem to recall. Volvo's was near the top, and since every accessory I put on my first 850 was OEM, from backup warning radar to trailer hitch, I went with Volvo's. OMP's, if they still paint theirs yellow, is a nice attraction in the engine compartment. Go to Google and do a search for it. At the time I bought mine for my first 850 I phoned all over the West Coast trying to find an OMP brace, and they were all sold out because the main distributor (I should say, ONLY distributor) was late in back ordering and nobody had one, so I went with the Volvo. Don't regret it in the least. It too looks nice, is functional, and what more can you ask? If you want to check out IPD's strut brace, do a Google search for them. They're easy to find and list their parts, so you should be able to get a price to compare to OMP's and Volvo's. Dick
