engine overheating 850

fan and relay seems to be working fan comes on and after a couple of minutes it turns off I assume because the engine has cooled off enough, again this is with the car idle-ing. I replaced the waterpump, and it has been my experince that as long as the waterpump turns and has an impeller it should work. Then again the way the pump bolts into that long pipe piece is kid of odd.
