The big difference between nitrogen and air (80%) nitrogen, is that nitrogen does not expand when heated. It also does not allow for oxidization, which would make it better for use in steel wheels too. My own question: Since the manufacturers give a cold inflation pressure for air knowing that it will expand, does one run a higher cold pressure with nitrogen? Just got new tires for the V70, and nitrogen was $5 per tire extra. I didn't buy it.
