Annie,
What head unit are you trying to wire your sub into?
Stock Volvo units are manufactured by Alpine and were not configured
for sub-woofers. If the sub your trying to install has twin drivers you
could always sacrifice your pillar speakers (which don't do a lot anyway) and connect your subs by extending the wires running to them. Be careful on the amount of "draw" your sub(s) take from the system. 8 Ohm vs. 4 Ohm. You can always wire in a set of matching transformers, but when you start getting to this point it would probably be better just to swap out the whole unit.
