Can I drive 97 GLT without the ABS module in the car? 850

I'm no authority what you're experiencing, but I'm not convinced your situation is a bad ABS computer. If your ABS/TRACS lights on, or your ABS pump is modulating for no apparent reason, or if your speedometer is dead, the ABS unit is a good place to look. May be worthwhile to investigate that further or take it into a tech before you pull the ABS unit out.

But to answer your question...the standard disclaimer: driving without your ABS unit in isn't recommended. That said, people do it. When I sent my ABS unit off to Victor for rebuilding (he's the "ABS Rehab Man" you speak of :) - I've put his site address down at the bottom), I drove my '98 S70 GLT on a limited basis for about a week with the unit out. I taped a plastic bag over the exposed area to keep water and junk out. The ABS/TRACS lights were on, and the speedo didn't work, but the traditional brake system functioned normally. Again, I didn't drive the car more than I had to, and I was especially wary of driving in adverse conditions.

If you choose to drive it with the unit out, you should only do so if you're comfortable with the risk, and if you've accepted that something could conceivably go wrong as a result.
