That response you got from the die hard Volvofan is to be discarded. We all like Volvos in this site, that's why we care about what is happening these days.
Volvo will recall the electronic throttle gizmo, but they have gone overboard with VADIS and the required downloading of software. New Volvos are no longer "fixable" by mechanic wanabees. My newest, the V70, is my last Volvo. I will continue to own Volvos, but the next one will be older than 1993.
I dislike Toyota because of its lack of personallity, and the same is true of the Big3.
A car needs to be fun, safe, depenable, and have character. It also needs to be backed by the company that makes it. Audi has an A4 and A6 that just might fit the bill.
